Opinions Please

Going to cast on Aunt Peggy's Christmas Scarf today. I love this phenomenal Brushed Alpaca.

Which pattern should I do?

The Berry Stitch?

Diagonal Crossed Stitch:

OR... the zigzag scarf (pattern here)

Hi Melanie, love the diagonal cross stich and enjoyed your blog. Ours is Two Knitters and the Fight Against yarn on blogger.com if you want to take a look. Here in the UK the only mississippi mud pie comes from the freezer section of the local supermarket - was wondering about your recipe -any chance you might post it? Best wishes

And I like the zigzag scarf with the berry stitch running a close second!

    Hey Mel,

I really like the Staggered Eyelets and the Feather and Fan. Both are classic and feminine.

Is the alpaca too fuzzy? If it is, the diagonal ribs and the berry stitch might get lost, though I like the berries a lot

Staggered eyelets for me. Very nice yarn. It will look great in any of them most likely.

Well, I went through the same decision process with an Aunt's scarf. In the end, I did k2p2 rib with sides slip stitched on large needles. It gave the fabric loft and retained the softness (yarn has cashmere in it).

I vote for the staggered eyelets - the textured patterns might not show as well with black, fuzzy yarn.
