She Still Knits...

... on occassion.

Here is the home sweet home shawl I've been working on. Besides a sock, I have been truly loyal to it.

Even though I am knitting from two balls of yarn I am noticing pooling in the pictures. (I didn't notice it until I took the pictures.) So I guess I'll throw in a third ball to use. I am still enjoying this pattern. It is hard to see because of the lace, but it actually makes little houses. It is quite a charming pattern.

I haven't shown my little guy lately, so I thought I'd take a moment to do that.

Here he is on Easter.

Well, I got a promotion about a week ago! :-) To what is called the "SunRX" department. It's a desk job with NORMAL hours. I work from 9-530 (We won't mention that I haven't left at 530 yet... we'll let that overtime thing just slip by. ha ha) as opposed to the 11-830 shift I was working. It's so beautiful and "normal" that I don't know what to do with myself.

Zander got tubes last week, it has done wonders for his speech and hearing already. I'm quite thrilled about it. Of course, we are now going through a major "no" phase... which is just absouletly like running nails down a chalk board. I've had enough with him saying it.

I'm still at my folks house. All the sudden school got busy, zander had his pre operation appointments, nick was planning to come in town and the whole promotion thing happened. I am definitly ready to go but am now beginning to think of buying a condo as opposing to throwing money away on rent. There are some really neat/inexpensive condos, and since the money for the down payment is in the bank, there's no reason to do otherwise, right?

How is everybody else doing?

Somewhere Out There

Hello strangers!

I appologize for my long disappearance. I assure you I am still breathing, and that all limbs are attached.

Things have been crazy (well, in a more accurate term: ape, barmy, batty, berserk, bonkers, cracked, crazed, cuckoo, daft, delirious, demented, deranged, dingy, dippy, erratic, flaky, flipped, flipped out, freaked out, fruity, haywire, idiotic, insane, kooky, lunatic, mad, maniacal, mental, nuts, nutty, potty, psycho, screwy, silly, touched, unbalanced, unglued, unhinged, unzipped, wacky, whacko) here.

Some things have been good. Some bad. There have been some family problems that dated back a few weeks ago, that pushed my butt into apartment hunting mode. My family is okay. They're all also alive and well, with all limbs attached, but the realization hit me that I'm 24 (okay, well, almost 24) living at home and trying to raise a child. I will never move on with my life until I MOVE OUT. The days I feel like I'm floating through life were starting to accumulate. I had nothing to be proud of except for my job (and that doesn't say much because the company is starting to have a hard time-- nothing to be TOO concerned about though). I need to move out. My goal at the beginning of my divorce was to be moved out by my 24th birthday. It is rapidly approaching. I still intend to have this be the case. And actually, I intend to be moved out by May 1st, if not sooner.

So that's that.
The next crazy thing has been Zander. And those with children (and especially those who are single moms) will know, there is never a dull or slow moment. Zander had his 4th ear infection in a relatively short period about a month ago, and so off to an Ear Nose, Throat specialist he went. Without a pause or a doubt the doctor recommended tubes. Those will be put in Monday the 24th.

While all this was happening I was beginning the stages of speech therapy with Zander. State funded programs are such a pain in my ass! 4 "pre" meetings, 5 weeks of phone calls and chaos have produced Zander's first "session" in which his speech therapist warned me would be "observing" him interact more than actually teaching him words. At this rate the kid has already learned 4 new words. HELLLOOOO. anybody home?!

Then there is school.. only 2 more weeks, which leaves for a paper and an exam which are now consuming my time. I have decided to take the summer off and enjoy myself, give myself a pat on the back for a job well done and a successful school year. And I will also be taking time to play with Zander and get him potty trained. It will also give me time to figure out how in the HELL I'm going to afford school next semester while living out on my own. ha!

So, as far as the knitting goes. Yes, I've been doing it. No, not every day. I can (usually) crank out 3-4 hours of knitting on the weekend. Most weekdays I don't even touch the knitting. Which leaves for very little to blog about. I have no pictures to show, but there has been quite a bit of progress made on the home sweet home shawl since the last time I posted it. I hope to finish it up upon moving into my apartment, as there are no words better in the world than "home sweet home."

Grey's Anatomy

Knitting & celibacy are key topics on Grey's Anatomy tonight.

Okay, so I know I TOTALLY haven't posted in over a week and I know this is a shitty post-- actually it shouldn't even post... but just so you all know-- I AM alive.

-- and knitting a bit.
